Videocon Industries enters power industry
Videocon Industries has announced that they are now going to build three power plants. The company is currently involved in consumer electronics market and oil exploring.
Chairman Venugopal Dhoot spoke about these new plans: “We will increase our investments in setting up power projects as we get more coal linkages and land. India needs electricity and there’s very good scope in power. This is just the beginning.”
They are now going to build 5,000 megawatts of electricity capacity in the states of Gujarat, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.
They have already called for bids from global engineering companies for two units of 800 megawatts each. This would be located in Pipavav in Gujarat.
