Samsung Electronics sues Sharp over LCD related patents

South Korea based consumer electronics giant Samsung has announced that they are now suing Sharp Corp for patent infringement.

These patents are related to LCD technologies. Samsung is the world’s top maker of LCD display panels.

Samsung spokesman James Chung spoke on these new developments: “We are countersuing Sharp in Delaware in the United States and in Tokyo. We have also requested the U.S. International Trade Commission to launch an investigation in this case.”

Sharp had earlier this month sued Samsung in the Seoul Central District Court for patent infringement. A similar lawsuit was filed against them in USA earlier this year.

Sharp had this to say on these lawsuits: “We plan to take appropriate legal countermeasures after studying the details of the legal claim.”
