Air India to lease planes to update their fleet
Indian government owned Airline Company Air India has revealed that they are now considering leasing 10-15 aircraft this year.
The aim is to update their aging fleet of aircrafts as they are awaiting the deliveries of their ordered planes.
Boeing has just announced that they are delaying the shipments of their Dreamliner planes.
Air India currently has a fleet of 140 aircrafts. And they have placed orders for 111 aircraft with Boeing and Airbus.
These new planes would be delivered by 2011.
V. Thulasidas, chairman and managing director of National Aviation Co spoke on these new developments: “Due to Boeing 787 delays and phasing out of older aircraft, we are looking at 10 to 15 aircraft for leasing.”
