Microsoft to expand Partners in Learning program

Software giant Microsoft has stated that they are now planning to spend $235 million over the next five years to expand its educational program.

This program would enable them to put more computers into classrooms. The aim is to bridge the digital divide.

Microsoft said in its statement that they are aiming to reach 270 million people with the second stage of its Partners in Learning program.

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates added: “Investing in education is the best way to help young people achieve their potential.”

Orlando Ayala, head of Microsoft’s “Unlimited Potential” group had this to say on this initiative: “It’s not only getting the computer but all the other elements in the strategy. It’s about how much we’re able to empower people. This can’t be done by a single company.”
