Trolltech being acquired by Nokia

Mobile phone maker Nokia has announced that they are now acquiring Trolltech ASA.

The deal would be conducted in a cash transaction and is worth around US$153 million.

Trolltech is based in Oslo and provide software and services used in popular web applications like Skype, Google Earth and Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Nokia added in a statement that this acquisition would help them speed up development of programs for its wireless devices and desktop systems.

It would also help them to expand their online services which are increasingly becoming an important area for them to have a presence in.
