IBM completes acquisition of Cognos

US based tech giant IBM has said that they have now completed their acquisition of business intelligence software vendor Cognos.

The deal was worth around USD 5 billion and would give IBM new customers including BMW, Bank of America, and Dow Chemical.

This deal is also incidentally the largest every for IBM which is now scheduled to come out with details on how they aim to merge Cognos in their own operations.

IBM said that they have been acquiring companies as it has become the need of the hour. They also recently acquired other companies including Filenet, Ascential Software, Trigo and others.
