Ford to use an existing platform for their small car for India

US based automobile maker Ford had recently announced their plans to launch a smaller car in the Indian market.

The company has now said that they are going to use an existing platform for this car as making a fresh start would take too much time.

Arvind Mathew, Managing Director & President, Ford India said in a statement: “I can safely say we will be using the old shared technology concept. You cannot go from standing start to delivery in two years.”

He however emphasized on the fact that this new car would be totally customized for Indian customer.

He added that Ford India engineers are going to work with other Ford engineers from countries like Australia, England and Germany on the small car.

This new car would be priced cheaper than their existing cheapest product Ford Ikon.
