Thomson Corp gets permission to acquire Reuters
Canadian electronic publisher Thomson Corp has now been granted permission from the European Commission to complete its acquisition of Reuters.
This acquisition deal would create an entity which would become the world’s leading provider of news and data for professional markets.
The EU said in its statement that Thomson and Reuters had agreed to divest databases with financial information products.
The two companies are now waiting for the decision from the U.S. Department of Justice. The deal would also require permissions from shareholders in the companies.
