Honda to stay out of cheap compact car market

Tata is all set to launch their Nano later this year. Several other automakers are considering developing a rival car including Bajaj, Nissan and Renault.

However, Japanese company Honda has clarified that they have no intentions to enter this market.

Honda president Takeo Fukui said in a statement that the company aims to keep their standards high and a cheap compact car would not do their brand any justice.

They are also going to keep promoting their motorcycles as a more affordable means of transportation in the Indian market.

He said: “We don’t have intentions to make a car for that price. Our policy is to adopt our most advanced technologies on safety and environment-friendly production in all of our products around the world. We believe the Indian people would not sacrifice quality for price.”

cheap is always associated to Indians. A cheapskate will always buy cheap stuff even if it means no safety and quality. Indian markets and Indians are always cheap minded so Honda has made a right decision not to make cheap cars. If the Indians want cheap then they can always go back to riding bicycles or cow carts.
