Maruti cars now cheaper due to Budget excise duty cut

Maruti Suzuki has announced that they are cutting the prices of six of their models which benefit from the just announced excise duty cuts in the Union Budget.

Tata Motors, Hyundai and General Motors have also announced that they would offer similar price cuts to pass on the benefits to the customer.

Maruti has cut the prices of models including Maruti 800, Omni, Zen, Wagon R, Swift Diesel and Alto.

The amount of this price cut varies from Rs. 6,500 for Maruti 800 to Rs. 18,030 for Swift Diesel (in New Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO S. Nakanishi spoke about this new development: “In the short term, the reduction in excise duty will make small cars more attractive for customers and offset the negative impact of higher interest rates. This is an encouragement for companies like us, which are making major investments in capacity, research and exports.”
