North Rhine-Westphalia wants Nokia to pay back $92 million
Nokia is planning to close a plant in Finland for which they got around $63 million in subsidies.
The state government in North Rhine-Westphalia has said that they now want the mobile phone maker to pay back that money considering the plant close would result in the loss of 2,300 jobs.
This plant manufactures close to around 6 percent of Nokia’s handsets. The company wants to close it as it accounts for 23 percent of its global labor costs.
The government wants Nokia to pay them back $92 million including the subsidies plus interest by the end of this month.
They are threatening legal actions if Nokia fails to take any action on this demand.
