Toyota expects US demand to be as strong as last year

Toyota is competing with General Motors to become the largest automaker in the world.

The company has now said that they expect the demands in the US market to be as strong as it was last year.

Toyota President Katsuaki Watanabe spoke about the weakening US economy: “I believe U.S. economic fundamentals are strong.”

He added about the Yen getting stronger: “But since we don’t know how much further the yen will rise, there is no need to scramble and take hasty action.”

But he did say that it would be difficult for them to offset the currency impact with increases in vehicle sales and costs cuts.
