RIM Blackberry selling in record numbers
When Apple announced their iPhone, market analysts had said that the mobile phone from Apple could hurt companies like Research in Motion.
However, RIM seems to gain from the increasing popularity of Smartphones as they are selling record number of Blackberry devices.
The company said that they shipped 14 million Smartphones last year. This included shipments of as many as 4.4 million devices in the last quarter of the year alone.
RIM also managed to add around 2.18 million new BlackBerry subscribers in its fiscal fourth quarter. They now have a subscriber base of 14 million customers.
Jim Balsillie, co-CEO at RIM added in a statement: “We did not see any evidence of a slowdown in our enterprise business outside of normal seasonal trends.”
