Volkswagen to launch two small cars in India
German automotive giant Volkswagen has said that they are working on plans to bring two small cars to India within the next four years.
These two new models are likely to be priced around Rs. 5 Lakh price point.
One of these models would be based on their Up! Concept car. The other car would be developed by Skoda.
Joerg Mueller, president and managing director of Volkswagen India said in a statement on their plans: “This is the segment that is seeing a very big growth and we are now working out a small car strategy so that we are present in the fastest growing segment. The car will be under 4m in length.”
VW is also working on plans to develop a new model for India which would be based on their Polo model.
Mueller added: “India is a huge strategic market for us and we will work towards having a product in every segment using a mix of imported completely built-ups, assembling here or manufacturing locally.”
