Samsung to spend $20 million on expanding operations in India

Samsung Electronics has said that they aim to spend as much as $20 million to expand their operations in the Indian market. The company added that they are expecting their turnover to grow by around 20 per cent to touch about Rs 7,560 crore in the current year.

Samsung India deputy-managing director, Mr. R. Zutshi was talking with the media people while announcing the launch of their new range of cameras and MP3 players. He said that the company has invested around $150 million in its operations so far.

They are expecting to grow by around 20% this year compared to 30 per cent last year. This slower rate of growth is mainly due to consolidations of their various ventures in the Indian market.

Samsung is expecting more business opportunities in the digital media business from the Indian consumer. Samsung India’s director, sales, Mr. Pradeep Tognatta added: “We plan to strengthen our flat television range this month by launching new sound-oriented models in the 21-inch and 29-inch screen size segments.”
