Now Australia has more cell phones than people

Australia has become the latest country where there are more mobile subscribers compared to people.

Australian Communications and Media Authority reported that the country now has more than one cell phone for every Australian.

As of June 30, 2007, Australia had 21.26 million phones operating with just 21.1 million people living in the country.

There are several other nations which already hold this interesting distinction. Israel, Italy, Cyprus, Bahrain, Greece, UAE, Sweden, Hong Kong are some of them. The trend is very common in the European region.
