Nissan aims to launch an electric car in US and Japan by 2010

Nissan’s chief executive, Carlos Ghosn has said that they are aiming to launch an electric car in the Japanese and US market by 2010.

The longer term aim is to offer their electric cars globally by 2012.

Ghosn said in a statement that they have now decided to speed up the work going on in this direction.

Gas prices are rising around the world and pollution is a global problem already. They would also be able to meet the stricter fuel-economy standards in developed nations through this initiative.

With this Nissan has now become the first automaker to announce their plans to develop and sell mass market, all-electric vehicles worldwide.
