Apple Mac popular with higher end computer buyers
NPD Group said in a report that Apple sells as many as 66% of the computers sold through retail stores which are priced above USD 1000.
The report accounts for sales during the first three months of the year. It does not include the online sales. Dell is one of the major personal computer makers which sell a lot of their machines online.
It still is a major achievement for Apple as they benefit from the higher margins on machines in this price bracket.
NPD analyst Stephen Baker spoke about the report: “It means Apple is able to sell stuff at a price point and quality that other OEMs (manufacturers) and retailers aren’t able to do.”
Apple shipped 2.3 million Macs in the first quarter of the year which is a major improvement from last year.
