Oracle to set up a datacenter in Utah for online services
Database industry giant Oracle is all set to establish a global information technology center in West Jordan, Utah in the coming years to support their growing base of on-demand software products.
A lot of software companies are increasingly offering web based products and services which require them to invest into setting up such data centers.
The company is expected to make an initial investment of $285 million on this project.
Oracle said that this new center would cater to their on-demand business, plus research and development and customer service operations.
They are not alone, even software companies like Microsoft are increasingly expanding their data centers to support more online services.
Google is one big example of how online services can be used to replace software products.
