Cooking gas connections now more expensive
Public sector oil marketing companies in India have announced that they are now hiking the charges for new gas connections.
The price of getting a new gas connection has been raised by Rs. 400 to Rs 1,250.
They have also raised the security deposit in the North-East to Rs 900 per cylinder from Rs 500.
Even the gas regulator is now more expensive at Rs 150 as against Rs 100 per piece initially.
The companies however continue to suffer heavy losses on each gas cylinder sold in the retail market.
They have been asking the government permissions to raise the prices of fuel and gas but are yet to get any positive response.
The Indian government is likely to announce a compensation package for the oil companies to help them survive these tough times.
