Arun Sarin stepping down as the CEO of Vodafone
Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin has announced that he would step down from his position in the company this coming July.
He would hand over the charge to Vittorio Colao.
Sarin spoke about his decision to step down: “I have achieved what I set out to achieve. It’s been a privilege to be here for five years, and now, the company is very well-positioned strategically. This is the right time for me to retire. I’m taking a sabbatical, travelling, spending time with my family. I’ll see what the future brings; I haven’t decided what the future will bring for me.”
Colao added: “The biggest challenge will be to follow Arun’s example”.
Sarin added that the decision to appoint Colao was taken after three months of internal discussions. He said: “Vodafone has moved from being a mobile company to a total communications company. We have a global brand, global presence and a truly global company, with important assets like India and Turkey.”
