Hyundai new small car for India coming in 2011
South Korea’s top automaker, Hyundai has announced that they hope to bring their next small car model in the Indian market by 2011-12.
The company is working on this new model which is expected to cost around Rs. 1.5 lakhs when it is launched.
They are developing this car for emerging markets like India and China.
The car would take on the Tata Nano and other models which are expected to arrive in the coming months.
Bajaj for instance is working with Nissan and Renault to launch a cheap compact car in India.
Hyundai spoke about the Tata Nano which is due for launch this year: “We don’t have any immediate plan to fight against the Nano.”
Hyundai’s current cheapest offering in India is the Santro model which starts at around Rs. 2.7 lakhs.
