BlackBerry gains in the US market
Market research firm IDC has reported that RIM’s Blackberry has gained some market share in the USA.
Blackberry increased its share of the U.S. Smartphone market in the first quarter of the year.
They managed to take away customers from rival companies like Apple.
Their research report said that Blackberry’s share of the U.S. market for Smartphones is now up to 44.5 percent. Apple iPhone’s market share is down to 19.2 percent from 26.7 percent in the fourth quarter last year.
Motorola is another loser in this latest report as their market share was down to 2.6 percent.
Palm gained somewhat as their market share increase to 13.4 percent from 7.9 percent in the fourth quarter. Samsung is also another gainer in the first quarter of the year.
Apple is expected to launch the second generation iPhone next month which is expected to include corporate features. This could make the iPhone a more potent challenger to the RIM Blackberry platform.
