GM India working on CNG/LPG editions of Spark, Aveo, and U-VA
GM India has revealed that they are working on CNG and LPG editions of three of their models: Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Aveo and Chevrolet Aveo U-VA.
P. Balendran, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, GM India said in a statement: “We have been working on alternative fuel technology for some time and the recent fuel price hike has expedited the process.”
He added: “It is too early to say. Certain tests and trials are to be done.”
Spark is likely to become the first of these models to see a public launch of an alternative fuel edition.
Indian government recently hiked the fuel price which has led to demand for such models.
Experts believe that GM India would not waste much time and launch these variants in the market within this year.
GM India is already offering the CNG edition of Chevrolet Optra in the markets where CNG is readily available.
