Maruti expected to take on Tata Nano with a variant of Maruti 800

Maruti has denied the possibility several times in the past. But market sources say that the company is most definitely going to take on the upcoming Tata Nano with a variant of their Maruti 800 model.

Tata Nano is scheduled to launch later this year. It would then become the cheapest car in the market with prices ranging from Rs. 1.2-1.5 lakhs.

Maruti currently is the seller of the cheapest hatchbacks in the market with their Maruti 800 model which is priced at around Rs. 2 lakhs.

Analysts say that the company has a pretty decent profit margin even at that price and they can easily launch a stripped down model of this car for around Rs. 1.5 lakhs.

It remains to be seen on how the rivals tackle the Tata Nano car which is all set to take on the market with its cute looks and great price.
