eBay told to pay fines of 40 million Euros for fake goods sold online
A French court has now ordered the online shopping giant eBay to pay Euro 40 million in damages to luxury goods group LVMH.
eBay was found guilty of allowing sellers on their services to sell fake copies of the company’s products.
LVMH had claimed in the lawsuit that eBay was not taking enough actions to stop sellers from offering fake products on their service.
eBay has responded by saying that the LVMH is trying to protect uncompetitive commercial practices at the expense of consumer choice.
They are going to appeal this judgment which could potentially lead to more similar lawsuits.
