DreamWorks Animation leaves AMD for Intel

DreamWorks Animation has announced that they are now planning to shift from AMD powered computers to Intel ones.

The company aims to switch to 3D movies only for their future offerings.

DreamWorks had collaborated with AMD in 2005 and the deal was for a period of three years.

They are not renewing the deal and would now work with Intel.

One of their most anticipated movies to come in the near future is Monsters vs. Aliens scheduled for release in March 2009.

Kung Fu Panda was their most recent launch and it was a huge success.

DreamWorks Animation Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg spoke about the new developments: “The impact of these new chipsets is that it will go from overnight to hours to minutes. Within a handful of years — or less, actually — we may achieve the Holy Grail of our business, which is to actually work in real time. So it’s actually, literally in the moment of creation, you can see your work.”
