Volkswagen has no aim to compete with Tata Nano
German automaker Volkswagen has said that they have no plans to compete with Tata Nano model in the Indian market.
VW has plans to launch a cheap compact car in India which market had expected to be priced in competition with the Nano.
Tata Nano is scheduled to launch in India later this year. It would become the cheapest car in the world at launch.
Volkswagen Group India’s President and Managing Director Joerg Mueller spoke about their upcoming small car: “Our small car will be an absolutely new car and designed especially for India. This will be in the premium category and thus has nothing to do with Nano.”
It would be based on their VW Polo model and would be designed specifically for Indian market.
