Sony Ericsson to cut 2000 jobs as sales down
Mobile Phone Company Sony Ericsson has announced that they are now cutting around 2000 jobs in their worldwide operations.
The company is struggling to compete in the market which is currently dominated by Nokia and Samsung.
The entry of new players like Apple is also not making it easier for them to stay competitive in the niche segment.
A company representative said: “We’re going to cut 2,000 jobs within a year all over the world, out of 12,000 employees.”
Sony has been focusing on the emerging markets with their low cost mobile phones. This resulted in massive drop in profits.
Sony Ericsson has posted an operating loss of two million Euros in the second quarter compared to profit of 315 million Euros in the same period last year.
