Bank of America to cut jobs and call centers to trim expenditure

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE:BAC) has said that they are aiming at eliminating as many as 1,900 jobs as part of their merger with the credit card issuer MBNA Corp.

These jobs would be mostly eliminated through the closing down of three call centers by year-end. The second largest bank in the United States would be closing down a call center in Dover, Delaware, eliminating 630 jobs.

In addition, they would also be closing down a center in Horsham, Pennsylvania, which employs 600 people. Further plans are to close down another call center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which employs 670.

Bank of America had earlier said that they plan to cut about 6,000 jobs across both companies following its $34.2 billion acquisition of credit card issuer MBNA Corp.
