FCC gives approval to Sirius XM deal
Sirius Satellite Radio has announced that their deal with XM Satellite Radio Holdings has now been approved by the FCC with some conditions.
The proposal was approved with a 3-2 margin vote. The deal can now go through as long as the two companies meet a series of consumer protection conditions.
FCC Chairman Kevin Martin added in his statement: “I think this merger is in the public interest and will ultimately benefit consumers.”
The conditions for this approval include a three-year cap on prices in addition to several other stipulations.
XM and Sirius have now cleared the last major hurdle in their deal.
