Motorola posts a profit for the second quarter
US based mobile phone maker Motorola surprised the market analysts by posting a small profit in their second fiscal quarter.
The company also managed to ship more mobile phones in this quarter compared to the first one.
Motorola said in its report that they earned USD 4 million in the quarter. Market experts were expecting them to post a loss of 3 cents per share.
This is an improvement from losses of $28 million, or 2 cents per share in the same period last year.
Sales were however down to $8.1 billion compared to $8.7 billion a year ago.
Motorola said in the report that they shipped 28.1 million cell phones in this quarter. This is an improvement from 27 million devices they shipped in the first one.
