Bihar gets its own IIT from this month

The Indian state of Bihar is all set to start its own IIT from August 6.

The first batch would consist of 109 students.

The institute would for now function from a makeshift campus in the Patliputra colony.

Dean of IIT, Patna, S Danpat spoke about the status of the institute: “We will have 10-12 faculty members here, five of them have already arrived, while the rest will be reaching here in a few days.”

Bihar principal secretary, Science and Technology A V Chaturvedi added: “The acquisition of land at Amhara and its adjacent revenue village will commence soon for construction of the campus for the institute.”
