Nissan showcases prototype electric vehicles

Japanese automaker Nissan has showcased a prototype electric vehicle which is part of their program to develop green technology products.

This new prototype is their centerpiece of its goal of producing a mass production model by 2010.

Nissan is however new to this scene with Toyota and Honda leading the pack of companies manufacturing hybrids and other environment friendly vehicles.

They are however aiming to become a giant in this segment by launching their own electric cars.

Nissan chief executive Carlos Ghosn spoke about the industry situation: “In the face of the severe operating environment, Nissan remains resilient but cautious on the outlook for our industry. We have identified the major risks and taken actions to address them, particularly in the US market.”
