Blu Dart expanding Indian operations
Blue Dart Express Ltd has said that they are planning to invest Rs 25 crore in expansion this year. As a part of this expansion plan, they would be adding 45 new facilities to its existing 217 located across the country. 14 of these new facilities would be established in the southern India.
The company is also planning to add two more Boeing 757 aircraft to its fleet of five Boeing 737 freighters operating across 39 route networks each night. These would be joining their fleet sometime by June this year.
This fleet expansion would help the company handle 250 tonnes each night compared to 166 tonnes now. In addition, they would be establishing Ahmedabad as their seventh domestic hub in the country.
Malcolm Monteiro, Managing Director, Blue Dart Express Ltd said in a statement that Chennai has emerged as the preferred destination for IT and backend operation of banks and other multinationals. The company had handled over 2.8 million shipments in Chennai in 2005 and they have invested as much as Rs 1 crore in its new integrated hub in this city.
