Maruti sees falling sales in month of August
Maruti Suzuki India is the largest automaker in the Indian market. The company sells around half of all cars sold in the market.
Maruti suffered falling sales for the month of August. This is a first for them in the last five months.
Sales of Maruti cars fell by around 9.2 percent last month to 59,908 units.
Maruti said that they suffered due to higher interest rates and high inflation.
Market analyst Mahantesh Sabarad added: “Conditions for auto sales have been deteriorating. There has been a substantial increase in interest rates and fuel prices also went up.”
Considering a share of all the cars are bought on credit, higher interest rates result in lowering sales.
