Nissan India aims to sell 2 lakh cars by 2012
Japanese automaker Nissan has said that they aim to sell at least 2 lakh cars in the Indian market by the year 2012.
This would become possible after the company starts manufacturing car locally in the coming months.
Nissan said: “India is a very important market for us and we have been focusing on how to localize the products and bring more models in the market. We have a five-year mid-term plan under which we expect to sell about 200,000 units in India by 2012.”
They are not alone. Volkswagen, GM, Renault and several other car makers have big plans for the Indian market in the coming years.
Nissan is currently setting up a manufacturing plant in Chennai through a joint venture with French parent Renault.
