Volkswagen plans to get into motor racing in India
German auto giant Volkswagen has said that they are planning to introduce motor racing sport in the Indian market by the year 2010.
The company is working on launching their Polo model from their upcoming plant at Chakan.
This could probably result in the launch of an Indian series of the Volkswagen Polo Cup in the near future.
Kris Nissen, Director, Volkswagen Motorsport spoke about their plans: “We are working on being able to have motor sport in India with Volkswagen from 2010, and have the programme in place by the end of 2009.”
He added: “We will start first with the Polo Cup, and also be involved in the Formula series for young drivers.”
