Transmeta looking for a buyer
Processor Maker Transmeta has announced that they are now looking for potential buyers.
The company apparently has given up any hopes to stay independent for any longer.
They were once seen as a new player in the microprocessor market which is largely dominated by Intel. AMD and VIA are smaller players.
Transmeta said in a statement that they have signed on two deals with Intel for licensing of certain technologies.
This deal alone would fetch them a one-time, non-refundable payment of $91.5 million in the third quarter.
Transmeta CEO Les Crudele added: “This year, as a result of our successful licensing activities, we will collect at least $265 million of cash payments for our intellectual property and patents.”
