Hyundai Motor considering making small cars in USA
American automakers are struggling as they lack the expertise in making small cars. Customers are no longer going for big gas guzzling SUVs.
And South Korean automaker Hyundai wants to take advantage of this situation. They have a lot of experience in developing small cars and the company is now considering plans to start manufacturing them in the US market.
The company has already reported that they are going to miss their US sales target for this year as the demand for their bigger models has gone down due to the financial crisis.
Hyundai added: “Hyundai is considering producing the next model of the Elantra in the US and we are preparing to supply parts for the car there.”
A company representative said: “A recent economic slowdown caused a big jump in even US small car sales and we are looking for the trend.”
