American Airlines places a mega order with Boeing

American Airlines has announced that they have now placed a big order for 42 Boeing 787.

The order is worth around USD 8 billion at market prices but the actual value is likely to be lower.

This is good news for Boeing which is struggling in the weakening economy with few orders coming in.

they are also facing a five-week strike by assembly workers.

This is also the first such order by American Airlines for widebody aircrafts since 2001.

AA said that they need to modernize their fleet to stay competitive in the US market.

They have placed this order for the 787-9 version which is the larger variant of this plane.
