Playboy Enterprises discarding DVD to concentrate on web distribution

Playboy Enterprises has stated in a regulatory filing that they are now discarding their DVD manufacturing operations.

The company would now concentrate online distribution of their media content.

Playboy stated that this would result in cutting of around 80 jobs. They company would also face $2 million in restructuring charges.

They are aiming to save $10 million a year by following these new directions.

Christie Hefner recently stated in an email sent to company employees that they are aiming to return back to profitability by next year.

The company recently posted a second-quarter loss of $2.1 million. This was pretty bad compared to net income of $1.9 million last year.
