Microsoft: No interest in acquiring Yahoo now
Steve Ballmer was quoted as saying that it made sense for Microsoft to enter into a deal with Yahoo.
However, Microsoft has now clarified their position as a company representative said: “Our position hasn’t changed. Microsoft has no interest in acquiring Yahoo. There are no discussions between the companies.”
Ballmer had said: “I still think it makes sense for their shareholders and ours. “We offered 33 bucks and it’s 11 today. It’s clear Yahoo didn’t want to sell. They probably still think it’s worth more than 33 dollars a share.”
Microsoft took back their acquisition deal after Yahoo refused to accept it and asked for more money.
Yahoo entered into a search advertising deal with Google to make peace with their shareholders.
Microsoft went ahead and acquired search engine technology company Powerset.
