News Corp. invests in job search engine company Simply Hired
Rupert Murdoch owned News Corp. has said that they are making a strategic investment in the jobs search engine company Simply Hired. They are betting on the ever-growing demand for online job ads services and this might become a part of their online services in the times to come.
The company said in a statement that News Corp.’s Fox Interactive Media group has invested $13.5 million in Simply Hired. Simply Hired is different from other popular job sites on the internet like Monster or Dice, as it does not solicit job postings from employers.
Technically speaking, it is an ad-supported search engine, which enables the web users to search through the databases of other employment-related sites as CareerBuilder.com, Monster, and Craigslist.
Fox Interactive said in a statement on this investment: “Classified revenue is important to News Corp. overall. We’re looking for ways to participate in those revenue streams as they move online. This is one step in that direction.”
