Apple iPhone outselling RIM Blackberry in the market
Apple has said in a report that they have managed to sell more iPhones than RIM sold their Blackberry devices in the most recent quarter.
This is a major victory for Apple as they can now claim to be the leader of the smartphone market in USA.
The company added that their profit jumped 26 per cent in the last quarter to $1.14 billion. This is up from $904 million in the same period last year.
In the same quarter, Apple also sold 2.6 million Macs and 11.1 million iPods. This is also a personal record for the company.
Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO added in his statement: “Apple just reported one of the best quarters in its history, with a spectacular performance by the iPhone — we sold more phones than RIM.”
Apple selling more phones compared to RIM is a spectacular performance from the company which just entered the mobile phone market last year.
Apple sells just one mobile phone which has two variants. In comparison, RIM has a variety of devices ranging from budget mobile phones to high end smartphones.
