Whoopi planning to enter India
The international kids wear brand Whoopi has said that they are planning to enter the lucrative retail segment in the near future. Hucke AG of Germany is the parent company of this branded clothing range and they have tied up with the Hyderabad-based Novotex Exim (India) Pvt Ltd to launch their products targeting children up to the age of 12 years.
Novotex Exim is expected to soon commission a factory in Hyderabad where the clothing range would be manufactured. Company’s Executive Director, Venkat R.V. said in a statement that they would be investing Rs 4.5 crore on the plant with the capacities of manufacturing 50,000 pieces a month.
They would further invest another Rs 8 crore on a dyeing and processing plant to ensure that the garments used anti-allergic dyes. Another investment of around Rs 4 crores would be required to setup retail stores in major cities around the country.
Novotex Exim has plans to set up 20 exclusive Whoopi stores this year across the country and 200 shop-in-shops in leading multi-brand outlets. This should give them a good head start in India for the Whoopi branded cloths for kids.
