Toyota aiming for a USD 5000 car for India
Japanese automaker Toyota is aiming to launch a new car in India that could cost as low as USD 5000.
Toyota seems to be working along with their subsidiary Daihatsu Motor on this new car specifically designed for markets like India.
They could manufacture this new car in India and export it to other relevant markets like the Brazil.
Toyota has stayed away from the small car segment in India till now but they no longer can afford to.
This new car could arrive in India as soon as 2010.
Toyota however is unlikely to bring a car that is priced as low as the Nano because it would be extremely tough for them to maintain the same quality levels as other Toyota cars.
The company would require to sell high numbers of this low priced vehicle to make it a profitable venture.
