Sprint to continue operating their iDen network

US based mobile service provider Sprint has announced that they would continue to operate the iDen network.

Sprint has acquired this business in their deal with Nextel.

Sprint said in a statement: “After careful review of the iDen business, Sprint intends to retain and rejuvenate this important asset.”

They had earlier announced their plans to sell off this division. Sprint failed to find a buyer with a good enough deal.

Stifel Nicolaus analyst Chris King spoke about the new developments: “I don’t believe you can turn around Sprint Nextel without at least stabilizing the iDen network. Reaffirming their commitment could in and of itself certainly improve trends.”
