Skoda Roomster to come to India next year
Skoda Auto India has said that they are aiming to launch Skoda Roomster, its multi purpose vehicle by the middle of 2007. It’s due to be launched in the European market sometime this year and within a year, it should be available in showrooms in India.
Lukas Folc, managing director, Skoda Auto India said in a statement: “By mid-2006, the Roomster will be launched in Europe and within a year’s time we will launch the vehicle in India”. He was addressing a press conference here in Mumbai.
However, the other exciting model from the company, Yeti multi-purpose vehicle would only arrive after 3-4 years. The company is also committed to launch the much-awaited Skoda Fabia here in India during the current year and is working hard on it.
Skoda India has set itself a target of selling around 13,500 cars in the Indian market this year. The company sold around 8,900 units in 2005. Mr. Folc added on their plans for India: “After the launch of Fabia, our sales would touch the 50,000 units sales mark, of which 30,000 units will be contributed by Fabia alone and 20,000 units by our existing three models.”

He further said: “By 2009, we should touch the 1,00,000 sales mark.” That is an ambitious target indeed.
