Jaguar Land Rover cutting more jobs

Jaguar-Land Rover has announced that they are cutting 400 more jobs in their operations in order to save money in account of the current global economy slowdown.

The company is owned by India’s Tata Motors.

A company spokesperson spoke about the new developments: “The company was considering axing between 300 and 400 manufacturing jobs by the end of January.”

JLR had earlier this year announced another job cut.

JLR spokesman Mark Foster added: “We are looking for volunteers. Applications for the 198 redundancies we announced earlier were heavily oversubscribed. We don’t see any significant change in trading conditions in the near future.”

JLR chief executive David Smith had this to say: “While regrettable, this is a necessary action to manage our business through a very challenging period.”
